Simon Busuttil’s statement in Parliament when he said he still believed that Egrant belonged to the Prime Minister and his wife was not only shocking but also insulting, not just to Magistrate Aaron Bugeja, who had conducted a meticulous investigation lasting 15 months, but also to all judges and magistrates.

Above all, Busuttil’s scandalous statement was full of political hatred and bitterness towards Joseph Muscat and his wife, Michelle, for the simple reason that Muscat made him suffer the most humiliating electoral defeat that any Nationalist Party leader had ever suffered, thus, totally ruining his aspiration of ever becoming prime minister of our dear country.

This is the same man who quickly runs to the courts, in the hope of finding a sympathetic ear, whenever he finds himself in deep trouble, as when the db Group exposed him as having requested and accepted €78,000 from it to pay the salaries of former top party officials Rosette Thake and Brian St John. Then, when a judge or magistrate decides against what Busuttil would have wanted, he would quickly forget everything he would have said about the rule of law and would resort to veiled insults towards that same judge or magistrate.

Busuttil’s highly dangerous theatrics can only impress similar politically-desperate people, such as Manwel Delia, David Casa, Karol Aquilina and Andrew Borg Cardona. In fact, the supposed leader of the PN and of the Opposition, Adrian Delia, has distanced himself and the party from Busuttil’s hysterical statement.

Small wonder the Prime Minister has called Simon Busuttil a “ liar and fraudster”. Just imagine if this man had ever made it to prime minister.
