If things go on as they are and traffic keeps increasing as it is doing, not only our roads but also our economy will be strangled to death.

Tourism is, in many ways, our lifeline. Like me, tourists depend on public transport. Like me, they often have to wait for more than half an hour, sometimes for more than an hour, to board a bus and, sometimes, another 45 minutes for a trip that should take less than 20 minutes. I may afford to lose all that time but what about our visitors?

Certainly, there is very urgent need of innovation here.

I am sure our leaders are very much alive to the problem and know the ways to deal with it. But they also know it will be at the cost of their electoral seats. Who will dare touch the cars of their voters!

A lot of information and education has to precede and accompany the various steps and innovations that have to be made; education which, I think, would result in the realisation by all car owners that the present need of vehicles could be eliminated if we had a really good public system that could take you to every nook and cranny of our little island in minutes.
