My father, who died aged 72, became blind at the age of 45, so I know what it is like living with a blind person. I would strongly recommend blind young people to learn to play a music instrument, such as the piano accordion.
The point of this letter is to make an appeal to bus drivers. When they see a waiting blind person using a white stick and there is nobody on the bus stop to help, the driver should stop, ask the blind person where s/he would like to go and either help him onboard or else tell him/her when the correct bus would arrive.
Do help blind people, please. One need only close one’s eyes for two hours to know what it feels like.
