Shipyards privatisation

The call for tenders for the privatisation of Malta Shipyards is expected to be issued in the coming days amid disagreement between the government and the European Commission over how to proceed. The two sides are involved in technical discussions over the wording of the tender document, and the call should be issued once the talks are wrapped up. According to a Commission source, there is a main outstanding issue: how limited the call should be.

It was one of the main points he made when he spoke at some length about the new encyclical, Veritatis Splendor, in a message at St John’s Co-Cathedral, Valletta, marking the 15th anniversary of the pontificate of Pope John Paul II.
