A strike by harbour workers employed by a contractor at Mġarr harbour caused a brief stoppage of the Gozo ferry service on Monday morning.

The workers, reportedly protesting over their working conditions, stopped working at about 6am, forcing Gozo Channel to cancel at least one trip to Malta in one of the busiest times of the week.

The ferry company restored crossings after deploying other workers to assist in ferry berthing services.
