The Medicines Authority would do well to realise there are many users who do the right thing and read the instruction leaflets supplied with the medicines prescribed to them. Is it or is it not, then, also the duty of the same regulator to ensure that all medicines marketed, prescribed and sold in this country are accompanied by instructions that are written in a language the people of Malta understand, at least English? What is one supposed to do when the information leaflet is in, say, only Greek, Arabic, German or what have you?

Big mess

It seems that for, some people, it is too much of a difficult task to place garbage bags in areas where they are sure they will be picked up. Some persist in disposing of their litter wherever they please. Such was the case in Xagħra recently, where two garbage bags were dumped on the side of the road. These were soon torn open by stray animals, resulting in a big mess. Harsher fines could go a long way in reining in those who simply ignore garbage collection times.

Easy flow

Excavation works are in progress on a site in Triq il-Linja, Attard very close to the US Ambassador’s residence. The part in question is quite narrow and traffic flows both ways. It is not unusual for trucks to be there and this exacerbates an already tricky situation, especially when buses happen to be going through. That stretch of road should ideally be made a one-way road throughout the whole year but certainly for the duration of the works.

Unsightly attraction

The scores of tourists who visit the National Aquarium in Qawra are met with mountains of garbage piled next to bins at the bring-in site in the Ta’ Fra Ben area, a stone’s throw away. As one walks past the mess, it becomes more than evident rodents were there rummaging through the litter. Is this the image of Malta we want tourists to take home with them?
