An Animal Welfare Malta advert appeared in The Sunday Times of Malta of October 7. The advert states that it is now illegal to chain one’s dog, as well as to tether, fasten or restrain, to a permanent object as a method of primary confinement.

However, I have a question: What about choker chains? Are we allowed to make use of them knowing that their purpose is to choke the dog if it pulls hard? The chokers are usually slightly larger than the neck of the dog and are attached to a leash which is kept by the handler.
