The Institute for Financial Services (IFS) Malta is launching three new courses for professionals seeking to further their careers in banking and financial risk.

These courses are accredited and awarded by the London Institute of Banking and Finance (LIBF) and offer students a blend of taught and self-taught online study and can be completed in six months.

Two of the new qualifications, Financial Risk Management in Banks (Level 6) and Managing Operational Risk and Governance (level 6), offer a focused and practical approach to the subject, while the third qualification, Risk and Regulation in Banking (Level 5) is a self-study course for those less experienced in financial risk.

To further support students, IFS will also be complementing Level 6 qualifications with a series of tutorial sessions led by local professionals. The courses are also being offered at a reduced cost.  Kenneth Micallef, IFS Malta’s president, said that in most cases, the applicants were being sponsored by their employer or may be able to obtain some type of external funding.

Ifs-Malta is a non-profit professional body set up to provide ongoing financial services and is licensed to deliver and award further and higher education programmes by the National Commission for Further and Higher Education.

Applications are now open. For more information e-mail: info@ifsmalta.org or call 2124 0335.

EU Budget seminar

The Malta Business Bureau and the European Commission Representation are holding a business seminar on the future EU budget. This will take place on Friday at 9am at Europe House Valletta.

A panel of experts and high-profile speakers will probe deeper into the future EU budget post-2020; its implications for Malta and the opportunities it presents to businesses. The Parliamentary Secretary for EU Funds and Social Dialogue, Aaron Farrugia, will  address the event.

MBB CEO Joe Tanti stated: “The EU budget needs to be optimised, the benefits amplified, and needs to ensure visible results, especially in a moment where the EU needs to come closer to its citizens and when the exit of the UK from the EU will reduce the means available at EU level.”

To register send an email to info@mbb.org.mt or call +356 2125 1719.
