A pair of gold and diamond-studded shoes has gone on sale in Dubai, aimed squarely at the well-heeled rather than those on a shoestring budget.
The buyer of the $17 million pair would be the sole owner of a unique piece of art, made by UAE-based Jada Dubai, in collaboration with Passion jewellers. They are made of real gold, and hundreds of diamonds, including two flawless ones of 15 carats each.
The first step in their sale was for them to be put on display at the prestigious seven-star Burj al-Arab.
It took nine months to develop the shoes. Their manufacturers now hope to follow in the footsteps of the $15.1 million Debbie Wingham high heels unveiled in 2017 and walk away with the record of most expensive shoes ever sold.
