I refer to the article published in the Times of Malta (September 26), ‘Mcast flooded by bullying claims against HR Director’, in which I am mentioned.

Without going into the merits of the issues mentioned in the article since an inquiry is currently under way, I would like to clarify some facts which have not been reported by your newspaper.

I was not replaced as principal and CEO of Mcast but I chose not to ask to have my contract renewed when it came to a close after my full five-year term was over. I was offered an extension to my contract to give time for a replacement to be found. This is public knowledge and was communicated to all Mcast staff in November 2017.

I applied for the post of director general within the Ministry for Education and Employment following a public call.

I undertook the whole selection process as per standard procedure in the public service, including an interview, and was selected for the post following this selection process which I took up in March 2018.

These facts are public knowledge and were even reported in some sectors of the media.

My move from Mcast had therefore absolutely nothing to do with the issues mentioned in the article and the insinuation implied is a distortion of the truth and highly unfair.

Without going into the merits of the truth or not of the allegations mentioned in the article since an inquiry is currently under way, I must, however, insist that I always undertook my duties at Mcast without fear or favour, with a strong ethical sense and always showing the utmost respect to staff and students.

This can be vouched for by the hundreds of staff and students I worked with during my five-year term as principal and CEO of the college.
