• Five members of the Rwandan Future Vision Acrobat troupe will give a performance at St George’s Square, Victoria, today at 7.45pm through the initiative of the Relationships Inspiring Social Enterprise, Aġenzija Żgħażagħ and the Gozo Diocese.

• Padre Pio prayer groups (Gozo) will meet at Our Lady of Graces Sanctuary in Victoria to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the saint’s death (23.9.1968) tomorrow at 6.15pm. There will be the recitation of the rosary, followed by a concelebrated Mass by Mgr Guzeppi Attard. Mario Caruana will animate the Mass. All devotees are invited.

• A blood donation session will be held at Xewkija District Health Centre on Tuesday from 1pm to 5pm.

• The Friends of the Sick and Elderly in Gozo are organising a charity sale at the private road between Gozo Colleges off Fortunato Mizzi Street, next Sunday from 7am to 1pm. The cost is €10 per car space. One can pay on the day. For more information, call 2155 1180.

• Fr Marcello Ghirlando will celebrate Mass and lead a healing service at St Anthony church on Friday at 7pm. There will be adoration of the Blessed Sacrament from 6 to 7pm. All are welcome.

• Fr Hayden Williams, OFM Cap, will celebrate Mass and a healing service at Qala parish church on Saturday at 7pm. There will be adoration of the Blessed Sacrament from 10pm to 5am. All are welcome.

• The Oasi Foundation is organising the 5th edition of the OASI Cup Run at Republic Street, Victoria, on October 7. The theme of the run is ‘Say NO to addiction, YES to a healthy lifestyle’. The event includes a 10 km run for participants 16 years and over, a 4.5 km walk for all and three runs for children between four and 15 years. The application form, routes and conditions can be downloaded from the Oasi Facebook page or www.oasi.org.mt. Applications, including payment are to be submitted by not later than Wednesday at the Oasi Centre, 5, Wied Sara Street, Victoria.

• The Classique Foundation will be organising the first edition of a mini-festival entitled ‘MUSIC+’, including recitals by local and international artists, master classes in different instruments, workshops for Primary School students, talks and a closing conference. MUSIC+ will kick off on Friday with a recital by Edlira Shkurti (violin) and Erga Halilaj (piano) from Albania, followed by three other recitals – on Saturday, featuring Gozitan pianist Francis James Camilleri, next Sunday featuring Laura Magistrelli (clarinet) and Marina Degl’Innocenti (piano) from Italy and on October 28, a concert by trumpeter Brendan Ball and pianist Elaine Mercieca, who will be premiering Alan Cassar’s Deconstructed Images. Apart from well-known classics, all concerts will feature music by Maltese composers. The concerts will be held at the Gozo Ministry at 7.30pm. Magistrelli, Shkurti and Halilaj will give master classes in clarinet, violin and piano respectively at the Gozo Visual and Performing Arts School, Xewkija, on Saturday at 9am. Two workshops for selected Primary schoolchildren will be conducted by Sarah Spiteri on October 4. On October 5, Abraham Borg will deliver a talk, ‘Opera in Malta: a brief overview’, at the Gozo Ministry at 7.30pm. On November 9, the Circolo Gozitano in Victoria will be the venue of a conference, ‘The Future of Opera in the Maltese Islands’ at 7.30pm. The conference will be moderated by Paul Xuereb and addressed by Cecilia Xuereb and soprano Miriam Gauci. Attendance is by registration. All events are free.
