In the early 1960s, SsangYong Motors was the only Korean automobile manufacturer focusing on off-road vehicles with the assembly of Jeeps for the US army. Since the turn of the decade, and through becoming a subsidiary of the Indian conglomerate Mahindra & Mahindra, the Korean-based company has set sight on higher targets.

With the introduction of its contemporary Cross Over Utility (CUV), affectionately named Tivoli, SsangYong has shown that it is able to compete with some of the biggest industry names in the popular crossover market, in aesthetics, design and performance.

The Tivoli boasts both an elegant and practical exterior design, functionality and innovative technology. The car’s slick features, play off the LED lights making the front end of the car feel modern and handsomely sculpted. These elements blend perfectly with the tidy profile of the car and its purposeful rear quarters.

To go along with the Tivoli’s clean exterior, the engineers at SsangYong certainly pulled no punches with their detailed interior styling. The interior room in the Tivoli is easily among the best in its class. Merging the finest there is to offer in modern automobile technology, such as cruise control and smart steering, in tandem with a slick interior design, the Tivoli has redefined the standard style for all CUVs.

The chunky D-cut steering wheel looks and feels fantastic, the ergonomic fascia is both modern and powerful, the efficiently designed storage space will prove useful during any journey, and the luxurious and satisfying leather seats offer great comfort and style.

While the aesthetics of the Tivoli put it in a league of its own, the car’s performance is by no means lacking behind as the CUV is quick on the uptake and offers its drivers great ride quality at all speeds. The Tivoli’s suspension soaks up the lumps and bumps of the road and the easy handling of the car, makes it smooth to cut around corners.

SsangYong’s Tivoli also comes with some of the best safety features on the market.

Equipped with seven airbags as well as having 40 per cent of its body made up of advanced high-strength steel, the Tivoli’s design puts the safety of its drivers and passengers at the forefront. In fact, SsangYong has stated that the Tivoli achieved the highest rating possible for AE-MDB side-impact collision tests.
