Sixteen years after their first collaboration on the ground-breaking Rivers and Tides, filmmaker Thomas Riedelsheimer teams up with Andy Goldsworth in a documentary portrait of the influential British sculptor and environmentalist.

An award-winning, globally celebrated artist, Andy Goldsworthy is known for works situated in rural and urban settings that combine materials and conditions from everyday surroundings – both monumental works of land art and others that exist only briefly before being altered or erased by natural processes.

Riedelsheimer intimately captures Goldsworthy’s exploration of the world and himself through these ephemeral and permanent workings on the landscape, cities and his own body.

As much an illumination of Goldsworthy’s mind as it is an exquisitely shot exploration of his unique approaches to art, Leaning Into the Wind journeys from his home in Dumfriesshire to France, Brazil and the US as he creates stunning works of art from the world around him. Meditative, transportive and visually ravishing, this documentary is a reflection of its subject’s increasing prominence and how his work continues to astound and inspire.

Leaning into the Wind: Andy Goldsworth will be screened today at 7.30pm at the St James Cavalier cinema, Valletta. Tickets from www.kreattivita.org.
