The Cinema Bar by Citylights continues with its evening film screenings today.

At 6pm the venue will be showing High Fidelity. Rob Gordon (John Cusack) is the owner of a failing record store in Chicago, where he sells music the old-fashioned way – on vinyl. Although he has an encyclopaedic knowledge of pop music and is consumed by the music scene, it’s of no help to Rob, whose needle skips the love groove when his long-time girlfriend, Laura (Iben Hjejle), walks out on him. As he examines his failed attempts at romance and happiness, the process finds him being dragged, kicking and screaming, into adulthood.

At 8pm there will be a screening of the Stephen King classic Stand By Me. After learning that a stranger has been accidentally killed near their rural homes, four Oregon boys decide to go see the body. Just a lark at first, the boys’ adventure evolves into a defining event in their lives.

The evening ends with a screening of Rumble Fish, in which an absent-minded street thug struggles to live up to his legendary older brother’s reputation and longs for the days when gang warfare was going on.

The screenings begin this evening at 6pm at the Cinema Bar by Citylights, St John Street, Valletta. Entrance is free.
