Every day I read the paper I am hurt knowing that more trees are being removed to build superstructures for the wealthy on fertile land. One can also add that hundreds of trees are being removed to make way for the construction of wider roads, which, in most cases, end in a bottleneck, hence, back to square one.

Years ago, when the use of cars was getting more popular, though nothing like what is happening now, it was said that the most popular building structures in Malta consisted of churches and petrol stations. Nowadays, we are loaded with ODZ fuel stations and, more or less, the same number of churches.

How is it possible for one not to see the difference between trees and black tarmac?

Yet, it seems nobody has the time or the will to draw the attention of the administrators. If we object, whether in writing or protesting by marching in a civil and polite manner, we are declared enemies.

Just because Labour seems to be making economic progress, it does not mean it should ignore other views being expressed.
