Researchers at the University of Minnesota and the McAlpline Research Group have 3D printed a ‘bionic eye’ device. The researcher developed a new way to print electronics on a curved surface. The electrodes act as light receptors that could help to bypass a damaged retina. Further development is required, but the aim is to be able to print implantable bionic eyes within the next five years.
