Maltese gymnasts walked away with 22 medals from the annual Summer Sparkle Invitational Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Competition recently held in Liverpool.

Fourteen gymnasts from ISC Gymnastics Club (Malta) and four coaches just returned from the competition in the UK.

The Maltese gymnasts took part in this competition and competed against girls from Rochdale Olympic Gymnastics Club (Manchester), SA Gymnastics (Stockport); City of Newcastle Gymnastics Academy; Gymfinity (Knutsford, Cheshire), Wigan Gymnastics Club (Manchester), Burnley Gymnastics Club (Lancashire) and Bebington, Cheshire.

The awards included a first place - overall score by Nicole Polidano and Sarah Azzopardi placing third.

Kaya Leonardi placed second in a separate category with her overall score. Other gymnasts placed first, second or third on specific equipment.

The results have served as a motivator for the upcoming term, as two of the girls, Nicole Polidano and Kaya Leonardi prepare for their scholastic year within the Malta National Sports School.

The rest of the girls from Level 5 and the WA Squad of ISC Gymnastics Club will resume training in the upcoming weeks.

The club organises training on various levels including extra-curricular programmes in several schools, performance and acrobatic-oriented programmes, general fitness/gymnastics for adults, boys gymnastics and recently also competitive squads other than the club's team.
