I am sure the vast majority of readers would join me in congratulating the Minister of Education, Evarist Bartolo, and his formidable team, ably led by Frank Fabri, on reaching another milestone in the field of education in our country. I refer to free transport for all children, irrespective of whether they attend government, Church or independent schools.

This is yet another clear example that what the Labour government promises would finally be delivered. It is also another classical example that the slogan coined by Joseph Muscat and his Labour Movement prior to the 2013 general election – Malta Tagħna Lkoll (Malta belongs to all of us) – indeed keeps happening.

Of course, this is happening due to the fact that Malta’s economy under this government is making enormous progress. Indeed, the latest statistics regarding economic growth in EU member states between April and June 2018 place Malta at the top spot with a 5.9 per cent real growth.

But let no one take this economic progress for granted. It can easily change if there is a change of government. And instead of real professional people at the helm, voters would decide to ‘bring in the clowns’.
