Alegria Academia de Baile Flamenco recently celebrated the end of its scholastic year with its annual fiesta held at Bottegin Palazzo Xara in Rabat.

As in previous years all members of the academy and members of Alegria Dance Company had reason to celebrate. Alegria has been very busy with various projects and performances and all those who attempted the Alianza Flamenca assessments succeeded in obtaining their diploma.

The highlight of the evening were the six awards presented. The Alegria Dance Company Commitment went to Justine Lanzon; Katrina Fenech got the Young Achievers Award; and the Alianza Flamenca Award went to a beginner Gozitan student Christianne Cassar.

The Puerto Flamenco Award went to Laura Agius and the Dhalia Local Award went to another Gozitan student, Laura Ellis. The Comsec International Award went to Martina Joy Azzopardi, who will be attending a course at the Festival de Jerez in 2019.

The members of the academy are now on a well-deserved break before starting the scholastic year and preparations for the academy performance to be held in November 2019.

The Alegria Dance Company and members from the academy will also be performing in the forthcoming Notte Bianca on October 6.

A free trial class for children and adults will be held on Wednesday and the term will be starting on October 1.
