MALTA 0

BELGIUM 4

Dimata 11

Schrijvers 18

Lukebakio 59

Iseka 70

In their 2019 UEFA U-21 European Championship qualifier, Malta were outclassed by a talented Belgium side with the latter emerging winners 4-0 at the Centenary Stadium, on Friday.

The home side started on the front foot when Jurgen Degabriele struck a shot from long-range which put Belgium's goalkeeper Nordin Jackers in difficulty to parry.

However, Malta started to drop back as the Belgians started to implement their game. Dodi Lukebakio went close to unlock the score but was denied by Jake Galea from close-range.

Moments later, Nany Dimata unmarked himself inside the eighteen but his towering header was di-verted into corner by Malta’s custodian.

From the resultant corner, Dimata headed home from close-range to draw first blood for his side.

Belgium continued to push for another one and they doubled their lead on 19 minutes, through Stefan Schrijvers who sent the ball into empty net from a corner.

After the change of ends, Belgium’s offensive prowess earned them two more goals to round up a comfortable victory.

On minute 59, Lukebakio received a through ball from the back, dribbled past Galea and slotted the ball into empty net.

Belgium found a fourth when Aaron Leya Iseka, who is on the books of Toulouse, profited from a miscommunication at the back to list his name on the score sheet.
