McCain laid to rest in Annapolis
US Senator John McCain was buried last night in a private ceremony at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.

Hundreds lined the roads leading to the academy  to say goodbye to the long-serving senator.

McCain's body arrived in a motorcade accompanied by his closest friends and family.

He was buried in a cemetery on the grounds of the school where he graduated six decades ago.

His funeral followed a memorial Saturday with tributes from former presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush.

One noticable absence was President Donald Trump, who was at his private golf course in Virginia this weekend. He had been asked not to attend.

Capping off the weeklong memorial, US Navy jets flew above Annapolis, with one jet splitting off and the other three continuing on what is known as a "missing man formation."
