Two men were remanded in custody after pleading not guilty to a number of car thefts which took place in August.

Mario Farrugia, 48, of St Venera and Clint Cauchi, 33, of Siġġiewi, were jointly charged with the theft of an Isuzu vehicle in Birkirkara on August 28.

The former was separately charged with the theft of three other vehicles, a Toyota Vitz, a Toyota Liteace and a Mazda Demio from Birkirkara and Paola. Both men were charged with receiving stolen property, while Mr Farrugia was further charged with breaching earlier bail conditions.

Mr Cauchi was also separately charged with the theft of tools from Birkirkara which allegedly took place last Saturday.

Both men pleaded not guilty and no request for bail was made. The two were remanded in custody pending continuation of proceedings in their regard.
