Castille Institute will be running a number of courses in October.

‘Data protection & the GDPR’ by Stefan-John Berry will take place on October 3. Dr Berry is a Maltese lawyer with a postgraduate specialisation in EU commercial law and over 17 years’ experience in the financial services industry.

‘Correspondent banking’ will be run by Philip Head on October 4. Mr Head is a 20-year compliance professional who has held senior financial crime positions with major UK and US financial institutions in both London and Malta.

‘Serverless architecture’ will be given by Mirko Zagami on October 5. Mr Zagami is a software solutions architect and engineer with extensive design and development experience in various technologies with over 15 years of industry experience.

‘Cash flow analysis and credit risk assessment’ will be in the hands of Erik de Jong, an international speaker, on October 8 and 9. Mr de Jong has worked for 22 years with ING Bank in the area of credit risk management as a full time trainer, manager and analyst.

‘The Compliance Officer’, by John Sammut and Jeanelle Newell, will be held on October 10. Mr Sammut has worked for a number of years in the financial services and held the post of head of Compliance, Legal and Audit at HSBC Bank Malta plc.

He is currently director, Internal Audit at the MFSA. Ms Newell started her career in the financial services industry with HSBC and held the post of senior compliance and risk officer within HSBC Securities Services (Malta) Ltd. She is currently an analyst within the Securities and Markets Supervision Unit at the Malta Financial Services Authority and has occupied this role for the past five years.

‘The fundamentals of private equity funds and real estate funds’ will be run by David Grech on October 15. Mr Grech is a Certified Public Accountant boasting 22 years of experience within the financial services industry, of which the last 16 years were focused on the investment funds industry, specialising in the fund administration and operations of different types of collective investment schemes.

‘Introduction to securitisation’ will be run by Alexia Farrugia on October 17 and 24. Alexia has for the past 20 years worked at a high level in financial services firms and other businesses.

‘GraphQL – how to build better APIs’ will be run by Mirko Zagami on October 26.

‘Training needs analysis’ will be given by Paul Gauci on October 29 and November 5 and 12. Mr Gauci is a seasoned training practitioner and management lecturer with over 25 years’ experience delivering training and educational programmes both locally and at an international level.

‘Operations risk’ by international speaker Richard Barr will be held on October 31 and November 1.  Mr Barr holds a BSc in International Business Administration from San Jose State University in California and his professional experience spans over 30 years.
