Investigations are underway to find the culprits behind the vandalism of a public bus on Thursday night.

A post on social media alleged that a man hurled stones at the glass windows of the bus after he did not have enough money to pay for the fare. It was also claimed that he was part of a group of people who appeared drunk. 

The photos show the tinted windows of the public bus completely shattered.

The incident took place in Cospicua at 10 pm, a spokeswoman for Malta Public Transport confirmed.

A report was filed and CCTV footage taken from the bus was given to the police, she added.

No one was injured in the incident, but people on social media were outraged.

"What would have happened if the driver did not stop at the stage? Would he have been reported?" one person said.
