Spazju Kreattiv will be screening The More You Ignore Me, a poignant and darkly funny coming-of-age story of about dysfunctional family life in 1980s rural England that is set to the music of The Smiths.

The story follows Gina (Sheridan Smith), whose efforts to be a loving mother and wife are undermined by her declining mental health and her growing obsession with the local weatherman, and her daughter Alice (Ella Hunt), who struggles to relate to her mum.

In the meantime, Gina develops De Clerambault Syndrome, in which she imagines grand passions on behalf of others and reads secret meanings into ordinary conversations.

Written by, and starring, Jo Brand, The More You Ignore Me is based on her critically acclaimed novel of the same name and uses all the insight gained during her years as a psychiatric health worker.

The More You Ignore Me will be shown on Wednesday at 7.30pm at St James Cavalier, Valletta. For tickets,  visit www.kreattivita.org.
