The Gozo Film Club will be hosting the second edition of the Gozo Film Festival, a three-day event promoting both local and foreign film-makers.

Held on the bastions of the Citadel, the festival captures the heart of the island’s capital with both indoor and outdoor events.

Today’s programme begins at 8.30pm with an open-air screening of international short films on the St John Demi-Bastion.

The films to be shown are Property is Theft (UK), With My Own Two Hands (France), The Replacement (US), Love (Switzerland) and I Hope to See You (US/Malta).

Following, there will be a screening of the Norwegian film Kon-Tiki at 9.20pm. Filmed in Malta, the plot follows explorer Thor Heyerdal’s epic 4,300-mile crossing of the Pacific on a balsawood raft in 1947, in an effort to prove that it was possible for South Americans to settle in Polynesia in pre-Columbian times. The film will be screened in its original language with English subtitles.

The festival will kick off today at 8.30pm at St John Demi-Bastion, the Citadel in Gozo.
