These are the leading stories in local newspapers this Saturday.

The Times of Malta reports that many of the migrants who were forced onto the streets earlier this week are desperate to return to the cow farm sheds they were evicted from after Planning Authority enforcement officers shut the makeshift residence down.

In a secondary story, the newspaper reports how prosecutors told a court that a young Dutch woman found with her throat slit in Santa Venera early this month had left her boyfriend, the prime murder suspect, due to his aggressive nature.

The Malta Independent reports that a sea rescue NGO has found a way to circumvent Malta’s ban on all sea rescue vessels – by buying itself a new ship.

The newspaper also report on the murder of Dutch woman Shannon Mak, highlighting the prosecutor’s statement that CCTV footage shows the suspect running with a knife in his hand.

L-Orizzont quotes Winston Zahra as saying paedophiles should be “locked away in prison with the key thrown away”. The newspaper also gives front-page prominence to a Facebook spat between MEP David Casa and Finance Minister Edward Scicluna.

In-Nazzjon reports on drugs in Paceville and dealers’ apparent tactic of hiding their goods in nooks and crannies around the entertainment hotspot, to avoid long prison sentences if they get caught.

The newspaper also reports on ongoing tussles over migration between Malta and Italy, with the Maltese government accusing its neighbour of having no interest to ensure the safety of migrants.
