QORMI             1

SENGLEA ATHLETIC       0

Qormi enjoyed a perfect return to the BOV Premier League as they needed a second-half goal from Alessio Cassar to see off Senglea Athletic in their league opener at the Tedesco Stadium.

The Yellow-Blacks enjoyed the initiative right from the outset and they came close on 11 minutes when Davide Mansi connected with Seo In Kim’s cross but his header finished just wide.

Senglea responded minutes later with a Karl Cutajar shot finishing off target.

On 28 minutes, Iven Zammit tested goalkeeper Philip Schranz with a curling shot from a free-kick.

Qormi continued to hold the initiative and went close with another header by Mansi following a corner from the right by Kim six minutes from the end of the first half.

Sengela goalkeeper Schranz then performed a good save on Kim just before the end of the first half.

Six minutes in the second half, Qormi managed score what proved to be the winner when Cassar latched onto Yannick Yankam’s headed pass and placed the ball home from close range.

From then on, Qormi did well to administer their advantage to ensure they returned home with their first three points of the season.

Qormi’s Seo In Kim was voted as the BOV Player of the Match.
