A bus driver in a hurry almost caused two crashes in under a minute on Tuesday morning, in the latest example of cavalier driving caught on camera.

Dashcam footage shared with Times of Malta shows the bus driver entering the Marsa-Ħamrun bypass by illegally overtaking another car waiting to join the stream of traffic, forcing the driver filming to hit the brakes.

Just a few metres up the road, and the bus driver decides to switch lanes with barely a second’s notice. Again, the motorist who caught the bad driving on camera had to keep his wits about him to avoid ramming the bus.

“This driver could have caused a major accident,” the Times of Malta reader said. “I expect disciplinary action to be taken.”

Malta Public Transport told Times of Malta that it had already identified the driver and would be taking immediate action.

"Safety is our top priority. Our drivers undergo professional training and there is no excuse for the unsafe behaviour that is clearly evident in the video," MPT general manager Konrad Pule said.
