A group of 20 Maltese and Gozitan altar boys currently serving at the Vatican, together with Fr Frans Bonnici, Fr Mark Ellul and seminarian Joseph Bajada, met Pope Francis last Sunday.

The Pope asked the boys about the Maltese bishops and was pleased to hear that Mgr Charles Scicluna, Mgr Mario Grech and Archbishop Emeritus Paul Cremona had ordained Mgr Joe Galea Curmi as Auxiliary Bishop.

Pope Francis asked the altar boys to pray for him and gave each one of them rosary beads. The meeting ended with prayers and a papal blessing.
