Since 2002, Emmanuel Delicata Winemaker has commemorated the start of the Maltese wine grape harvest by hosting the winery’s Classic Wine Festival at the Upper Barrakka Gardens in Valletta.
This year’s 17th edition of the festival started yesterday evening and hundreds of wine lovers have started to pour into this popular four-day event.
It continues this weekend, today, tomorrow and Sunday, every evening between 7pm and midnight.
Entrance is free but anyone (of legal drinking age) who wishes to taste the wines needs to purchase a purse with wine coins, along with a souvenir glass (which is yours to keep) for €15 at the entrance.
For those who are not wine drinkers but still want to enjoy the live entertainment and various cuisines being showcased, non-alcoholic refreshments will also be available for sale.
A few weeks later, on August 31, September 1 and 2, the happening will cross the channel to the viticultural heart of Gozo, Nadur, where Delicata’s Gozo Classic Wine Festival will take place at the quaint town’s stunning promenade with breath-taking views of Comino and Malta.
