Police in Scotland were called into investigate allegations that loutish football fans kicked over a child’s sandcastle.
The fans, Rangers supporters, were on their way to a match against rivals Aberdeen when the bus taking them there stopped at Stonehaven.
There, they got into an argument with a couple sitting on the beach with their three-year-old grandson. One of the fans then kicked over the child’s sand castle.
Police called the incident “completely unacceptable” and said that they had dispatched a unit to the area after being informed of it. By the time they arrived, however, the perpetrators were nowhere to be seen.
The father of the child slammed Rangers supporters, telling The Scotsman “"all clubs have their fair share of idiots – but it does seem like you tend to hear more of this behaviour from Rangers fans."
He later thanked the Rangers supporters who had gotten in touch with him to apologise on behalf of the loutish fans.
