Prime Minister Joseph Muscat laid flowers on the new monument to Dom Mintoff at Castille Place, to mark the 102 anniversary since the birth of the former prime minister.

The Labour Party's administration did likewise at Mr Mintoff's monument in Cospicua.

The party delegation was led by deputy prime minister Chris Fearne.

Mr Mintoff was Labour prime minister in the second half of the 1950s and again between 1971 and 1984. He passed away in 2012 aged 96.
