The feast of St Dominic is being celebrated in Valletta tomorrow.

Today, eve of the feast, the translation of the relic of the saint will take place at 6.15pm. It will be led by prior and parish priest Michael Camilleri, OP. A sung Mass by Father Provincial Frans Micallef, OP, will follow.

The highlight of the outdoor festivities today will be the traditional morning march by the King’s Own Band. It will start from near the parish church in Merchants Street at 9.30am. On arrival at St George’s Square, the band will salute President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca with the playing of the national anthem.

In the evening, the King’s Own Band will execute a Venetian-style band march from near the Parliament building in Freedom Square. At the end of the march, there will be a fireworks display at Il-Baviera.

Tomorrow, Pontifical Mass will be celebrated by Archbishop Charles Scicluna at 9.15am. The panegyric will be delivered by Papas Martin Zammit. The procession with the statue of the saint will leave the church at 7.30pm.
