A photo studio set up as part of Utopian Nights: Inside the Border in Mdina is providing visitors with the opportunity to visualise and share their dreams in the form of a self-photo portrait.
Fotokabinett Des Imaginaires is a platform for diverse communities to showcase their ideas and desires and, most importantly, it provides a moment of encounter between individuals who usually live away from each other.
The method involves a glass window to paint a dream situation on. The public is then invited to take a photo behind this painted glass window which will be printed on site as a postcard from an ‘ideal city’. The postcard will be given to the participant, exhibited in a temporary museum and sent to all EU institutions.
Interviews will be recorded and written on the postcards to reappropriate the symbol of this first-class method of travel. Children are welcome.
The studio is being set up from 4 to 6pm at Howard Gardens in Mdina, until August 8. For more information about Utopian Nights: Inside the Border, visit www.valletta2018.org.
