CHETCUTI. On Thursday, July 12, HUGO, entrepreneur, philanthropist, visionary and founder of Malta’s largest entertainment and hospitality group, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his son Luke, his grandchildren, his parents, brothers and sister and their families, other relatives and friends. The funeral cortège leaves the hospital on Thursday, July 19, and proceeds to Christ the King parish church, Antoine De Paule Square, Paola, for the celebration of Mass præsente cadavere at 10am, followed by private burial in the family grave. No flowers by request but donations to the Ursuline Crèche, Sliema, will be greatly appreciated. During the service, attendees are requested to wear black, turn off mobiles and to refrain from filming. DeRAFFAELE. On July 17, at Mater Dei Hospital, Fr STENO DeRAFFAELE, SJ, aged 84, went to meet the Risen Lord, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his brethren in the Society of Jesus in Malta and India, his nephews Stephen and his wife Carmelina, Peter and his wife Carmen and their children, relatives and friends. Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated on Thursday, July 19 at 9.15am at the community chapel of Loyola House, Naxxar, followed by interment at the parish cemetery, Naxxar. No flowers by request but donations to the Jesuit Infirmary for aged and sick Jesuit Fathers and Brothers will be greatly appreciated. May he rest in the peace of the Risen Lord.

FERRANTE DARBOIS. On July 14, at Mater Dei Hospital, MINKA, née Kovacic, widow of Henri, aged 98, surrounded by her family. She leaves to mourn her loss her daughters Marinka, Anna, Nadine and Gianni Merola and Tanja, widow of Joseph Cassar, her grandchildren Mateja and Reuben Farrugia, Giovanni and Martina Merola, Valentina and Michael Camilleri, Giuli and Luigi Reale, Caroline and Pio Valletta, her great-grandsons Max, Alex and Giogio and great-granddaughters Ginevra, Gina and Stella, her carer Liana and all her relatives and many friends in Malta, Slovenia and Italy. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today, Tuesday, July 17, at 9.30am for Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception parish church, Tal-Ibraġ, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 10am, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. LAURI. On July 13, at Roseville Home, Attard, ANTONIA, née Camilleri, of Sliema, widow of Anthony, aged 96, passed away peacefully. She leaves to mourn her great loss Josephine, widow of her son Joseph, her son Carmelo and his wife Lucy, her daughter Marisa and her husband Bryan Caruana, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, her nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. MUSCAT. On Monday, July 16, at Mater Dei Hospital, JOSEPH of Valletta, residing at Xemxija, aged 64, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Josephine, his daughters Nadine and her husband Ian Vella and Melanie and her husband Alistair Chetcuti, his grandchildren Jade and her fiancé and Craig Vella, Elisa Chetcuti, his brothers and sisters, his in-laws, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow, Wednesday, July 18, at 1.30pm for St Paul Shipwrecked parish church, Valletta, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2pm, followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. VELLA. On July 16, at Zammit Clapp Hospital, JULIE of Cospicua and residing in FGURA, aged 83, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church.
She leaves to mourn her great loss, her children Leslie and his wife Yosanne and Ivan and his wife Magda, her grandchildren Nicola, Jeremy and Gabriel, her brothers and sister, her in-laws, their respective spouses, nephews and nieces, all other relatives and friends. VELLA. On July 17, at Mater Dei Hospital, MAURICE, aged 95, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Polly, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 9.30am for Jesus of Nazareth parish church, Sliema, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 10am, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. VOLANDE. On Saturday, July 14, in Karlsruhe, Germany, MARIA, née Carabot, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her beloved children Andreas and Jacqueline, her sisters Gabriella, Veronica and Bernadette and her partner David, her brother Raphael and his wife Helen, her nephews, nieces, relatives and treasured friends in Germany as well as in Malta. A memorial Mass for the repose of her soul will be celebrated on Thursday, July 26 at 8.30am at the Carmelite parish church, Balluta, St Julians.
