Residents of the San Blas Therapeutic Centre run by Caritas Malta held their graduation ceremony on Wednesday, June 20. Ten residents successfully completed the programme for drug rehabilitation, which is supported by the Church.

In his address, Archbishop Charles Scicluna remarked that the motto chosen for this year’s graduation, ‘Choose to love, choose to live’, reflects the lived experience of the rehabilitation programme and the many other services offered by Caritas. He spoke about the value of life and the importance it should be given, not just at its first and last moments, but at every other stage between birth and death. The Archbishop also said that thanks to the dedication of organisations like Caritas, the secret for individuals who seek to know the beauty of life, is to learn to love and accept love from others. Archbishop Scicluna went on to say that this was “not a discussion one can have in a day, but a daily commitment to life that one must constantly reaffirm”.

The Archbishop also thanked the government for the support it provides to Caritas, which is a sound investment in youth and families.
