Fast forward to the end of a Riedel master class, and you can hear the attendees exclaiming among themselves, “I’ve been tasting wines wrongly all my life” or “This is a life-changing experience” and “Size and shape do matter!”
A Riedel master class is a wine-tasting class first and foremost. However, the focus of the tasting is not on the wine itself but actually on the glass, and how drinking wine in the right glass can change the taste and smell even of good-quality and expensive wines used during such tasting events.
As a company Riedel is famous for glass making. The brand has revolutionised the way we enjoy wine, and on Friday, there will be the 11th generation glassmaker himself, Maximilian Riedel, who will conduct a Riedel master class at the Intercontinental Hotel, St Julian’s.
For this year’s master class, which has been an annual event since 2013, the latest Riedel range of glassware will be used –the Riedel Performance – a glass that further enhances the wine-tasting experience.
Participants will be able to try high-quality wines in different glasses and compare the differences in shape and size of glass and the effect this has on the same wines. As is customary during a Riedel master class, participants get to keep the glass set used during the tasting (which is worth double the price of the ticket).
Riedel has entertained over 1,000 people, who are now Riedel ambassadors and who have become loyal to the brand.
