The Agrarian Society of Malta is today organising a traditional bandu (announcement) ahead of the Mnarja horse races in Rabat.

The defilé, which will include a town crier, a drummer and actors dressed in period costumes carrying the palji (coloured flags given to race winners), will start off from the Mdina local council, moving towards St Paul Square, exiting Greek Gate, and winding through the old part of Rabat. It will end in front of the shrine of St Paul, where the palji will be blessed. The bandu will be read at various stages along the way.

Another bandu will be held this morning in Valletta, leaving from St George’s Square to then proceed down Republic Street.

The bandu in Rabat will start today at 11.30am, while the one in Valletta will begin at 10am. For more information, visit http://theagrariansocietyofmalta.webs.com .
