Prime Minister Joseph Muscat greeted traffic policeman Simon Schembri at Castille on Thursday and praised him as a hero and an inspiration.

PC Schembri was seriously injured in a hit-and-run involving an unlicensed motorist last month. He lost an arm but it otherwise on the road to recovery.

Dr Muscat asked PC Schembri to continue to serve in the police corps, if possible, to serve as an inspiration to the officers and the public.

The policeman and his family thanked the government for its assistance.

Those present for the meeting included the Minister of Home Affairs and the Police Commissioner.
