The ongoing saga of the influx of migrants from Africa seems to go on forever. Those countries affected by all this are the southern European countries like Greece, Italy and Malta. When a controversy arises everyone in Europe (i.e. EU) are quick to jump in with both feet and start to quote the so-called international maritime obligations about how the nearest port of call is obliged to come to the rescue of all ships and people in distress.

But those laws were not meant for an exodus from one country to another. These people are forced on a dinghy so that whoever is nearest to them is obliged to take them in. So what is Brussels doing about it? Sweet nothing, as they say.

How about sitting down comfortably in Brussels (away from those drowning people) and find a solution? Well, let’s have a list of all the member states, with size and population density and each and every one will be allocated a number of migrants taking into account the parameters above.

It’s either this or change those archaic maritime laws that were never intended for stampeding migrants.
