Solar Cinema will be presenting an hour-long short film programme titled Go Greener Shorts. The evening will feature quirky and inspirational environmental films that explore the relationship with nature and the inventive ways of dealing with the changing climate.

The programme will feature the following short films:

George the Poet on Climate Change – What will it take to make us act on climate change? A poem by George the Poet.

No Snow, No Water by Klaus Obermeyer – Fearless rock skiers brave the treacherous jutting rocks of drought ridden California mountains illustrating the effects of climate change on our once snow-capped peaks.

Legend of Crabe Phare by Gaëtan Borde  – The Crabe-Phare is a legendary crustacean. He captures the lost sailors’ boats to add them to his collection, cleaning the bottom of the oceans.

When Balloons Fly by Jilli Rose – Balloons can be fun, but they don’t belong outside. This colourful and beautiful animation engages kids with the tricky subject of party trash in waterways.

Isle de Jean Charles by Emmanuel Vaughan-Lee – A portrait of a tiny island deep in the bayous of Southern Louisiana. We follow families that are facing a future where rising seas, coastal erosion and storms are threatening to wash their home away.

Object at Rest by Seth Boyden – The life of a stone as it travels over the course of millennia, facing nature’s greatest obstacle: human civilisation.

Japan’s Town with No Waste by Great Big Story – The village of Kamikatsu in Japan has taken their commitment to sustainability to a new level. Their goal is to become completely waste-free by 2020.

Tiny Worlds by Rushes – A humorous take on what might happen to the litter and rubbish on the streets when we’re not looking.

Nature: all rights reserved by Sebastian Mulder – Artificial grass on the balcony, a meeting hall with a forest wallpaper, a palm beach in the waiting room of the dentist. Will artificial nature ever replace real nature?

The Arctic Resort by Studio Smack – Opening soon, your new ice-cold holiday resort.

Future Thoughts by Loek Vugs – What could our future look like?

Wind by Robert Loebel – What happens if every day was a very windy day?

Big Booom by Marat Narimanov – The history of humanity and of our planet in four minutes. An eco-friendly statement developed in a single shot that has it all: humour, action and tragedy.

Go Greener Shorts will be taking place today at 8.30pm at Pjazza San Ġuzepp in Qala. For more information, visit www.solarcinema.org.
