In addition to what John Muscat wrote about Joe Grixti (June 13), I feel I should also say that, from the early 1980s through to the entire 1990s, Joe had yet another ‘second home’, which was the Barracudas Sports Club, also at St Paul’s Bay.

For two decades, all of St Paul’s Bay, and beyond, used to associate him with Barracudas. For many years, Iż-Żamunda, as he was affectionately widely known, served as a committee member of Barracudas and was also the coach of the club’s minors and girls water polo teams.

We are privileged to have had the opportunity to be so close to him for so many years. We shall all remember him for his relentless energy and humour; we shall treasure those memories forever.

Grixti shaped the youth of many of us at Barracudas and, as we grew older, he became our ageing role model.

We really miss him.
