Game, a play about football, family, secrets and skeletons in the dressing rooms, will be performed at Ta’ Qali National Stadium today and later this week after the live screenings of the 8pm World Cup matches.

The play, written by award-winning English playwright Brad Birch and directed by Lisa Ferlazzo Natoli, is about dreams, broken promises, compromise and corruption on and off the pitch. It tells the story of a local football club and the family that runs it.

Following the death of the club’s manager, his son, Chris (Malcolm Galea), is left to make sense of the financial mess his father left behind, while the club’s owner, Peter (Stephen Oliver), wants to take over the management of the club. But as the play unfolds, it’s clear there’s more to the story than meets the eye.

The cast also includes Davide Tucci, Erica Muscat and Julia Camilleri.

Game will be performed in the Trophies Lounge, National Stadium, Ta’ Qali, today and on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 10pm. The one-hour play is a Teatru Malta production in collaboration with Unifaun Theatre Productions, the Malta Football Association and the British Council.
