The only way the government can stop for good the invasion of ‘irregular immigrants’ is to make it clear to the European Union that:

(1) Frontex and any other official organisation must truly and firmly stop migrants from leaving the Libyan and north African coast; and

(2) if any of the migrants are then caught trying to enter our seas and/or approaching our shores they would be escorted by Frontex and other EU officials to board a firmer and safer vessel (after they are fed and given clean clothes) and be humanely sent back to North Africa where they came from, that is, their first place/source of departure and point of embarkation.

Malta and Gozo are very small islands and we are already overpopulated.

We have no available space for any more irregular migrants.

The Maltese islands are well known for their genuine kind hospitality as shown to these unfortunate people. Food, water, clothing and medication should be given and then they should be politely and kindly shipped comfortably back to North Africa.

I have humbly been saying this all along and I have been making these same pleas in the local and foreign press for the last 20 years.

This is the only solution to end this serious sad matter.
