A concert featuring excerpts of operas by the internationally- acclaimed Maltese-born composer Nicoló Isouard will be performed at the medieval chapel of Santa Maria ta’ Bir Miftuħ, Gudja, tomorrow at 7pm.

The programme features ex­cerpts from Joconde, Jeannot et Colin, Les Rendez-vous Bourgeois and Cendrillon, as well as the uplifting Sinfonia in C minor. They will be performed by the Isouard Ensemble, a string quartet comprising Vincenzo Picone (violin), Ian Ellul (violin), Matthew Fenech (viola) and Gjorgji Cincievsky (double bass). 

The concert is being held to mark the bicentary of Isouard’s death and pay tribute to his outstanding works. It is sponsored  by the French Embassy and the Alliance Française de Malte – Méditerranée, and is the last in the series of three concerts forming part of the Bir Miftuħ International Music Festival organised every spring by Din l-Art Ħelwa.
