A group of Russian artists living in Malta have got together to exhibit their works of art to mark Russia Day, just as their home country hosts the largest sporting event in the world.

The collective exhibition of the Russian artists and art enthusiasts, adults and children will take place at the main hall of the Swieqi local council. It will mark the National Day of Russia which was celebrated on June 12.

The aim of the event is to bring together Russian art professionals and enthusiasts who are living in Malta and to share their passion for art with the local people.

The event is being held in collaboration with the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Malta.

Lestnikov Eugeniy will be exhibiting works of art with gouache, which is a mix of water and colour.

Svetlana Alexander uses acrylic on canvas and Tatyana Reutova, Irina Kusnetsova, Marina Plotnikova, Natalia Kyrychenko and Anna Verbenets will all have paintings made from oil on canvas on display.

Elena Degenhardt uses pastels while Angelina Silina and Vanessa Silina will be exhibiting their works using markers. Inna Bugeja has painted glass while Natasha Dadush and Aldrey Dadouch are showing paintings with watercolour and gouache. Sasha Dadouch has artworks on print.

Tomorrow, the artists will be holding workshops.

The exhibition also includes some artworks of children who participated in the art contest “Russia through the Eyes of Children”, organised by the Russian Centre.
