Harry Ascroft is expecting a difficult challenge for Australia when they start their Group B commitments against France.
Ascroft, who is on the books of Balzan, underlines the experience that the team will gain from playing on such an important platform.
"We are in a tough group, but I think our team can put up some commanding showings which can earn us valuable points," the former Central Coast Mariners player said.
Midway in their preparations ahead of the competition, Ange Postecoglou left the Australia post and is now filled by the highly-experienced Bert Van Marwijk.
"With the previous coach, Australia developed a lot given we also won the 2015 Asian Cup," he said.
"Under Bert Van Marwijk, hopefully the players can learn from his vast experience especially since he led Netherlands to the final in 2010."
