Transport Malta has done a fantastic job on the new tarmac in the Kirkop tunnels, which is perfectly smooth. They have even added some to the few ramps on and off the footpath.

Could Transport Malta do something about the footpaths though? These consist of slabs, similar to those put over the top of graves, and some of them are crumbling and ready to collapse. Cyclists feel as if they are riding over a ladder. As for pedestrians, it’s a wonder they don’t trip up in the darkness and fall into the path of a car.
