On World Environment Day the Gozo Ministry organised a tree planting and safe gardening event for Year 2 students at Villa Rundel Gardens in Victoria. Around 150 children from 10 schools were given monk’s pepper tree seeds which they first sowed in recycled milk cartons and later took home to grow. The students were given details about the tree-planting process and how to take care of plants. They were also asked to name their tree and were instructed to get in touch with Eco-Gozo personnel if they came across any problems. When the plants mature the children can either plant them in their garden or at Ulysses Grove.
